EXHIBITION NO. 7
On Friday, April 20th between 15:00 and 21:00, the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa will host the vernissage of Exhibition No. 7, a compelling blend of work from students in all three levels of the SPAO Portfolio Program. This group of work pays tribute to classic processes while reflecting ideas of self-discovery, our natural environments and the contemporary social issues that surround them.
Come celebrate with us and view the achievements of this exceptional group in their pursuit of VISION, CONTENT and CRAFT.
We are located at 168 Dalhousie, at the corner of Bruyère, in the Byward Market.

In ten days I will be participating in my final SPAO show as a student. I’m very excited to be a part of Exhibition no. 7; there should be some really fantastic work by the first and second years, and of course there will be something from yours truly and my fellow third year Caroline Tallmadge! Come by any time between 3pm and 9pm on the 20th, or stop by sometime in the following week. More information can be found here.
ps. follow the SPAO student blog for some awesome profiles on students, and to get a sneak peek at what Exhibition No. 7 will have to offer!

13 - 18 has now been up at SPAO’s Red Wall Gallery for almost ten days! I am truly honoured by all the people who were able to make it out to my vernissage on the 16th, so thank you, thank you, thank you. :)
it has been so interesting talking with everyone about the works and I could not be happier with the response I have received. if you have not yet had a chance, be sure to stop by SPAO (168 dalhousie) between now and April 3rd, when the show comes down!
also, be sure to check out my updated website - I’ve put all the work from the show up so you can take a look before you stop by!

I am so pleased to announce that my solo show is finally (almost!) here. 13 - 18 opens this coming Friday, March 16, at SPAO’s Red Wall Gallery, 168 Dalhousie St. I would love to see you all there!
I am also very excited to announce that local poet Claudia Coutu Radmore has created a beautiful poetic response to my work as a part of the Call and Response program at the Red Wall Gallery. It is available to read online here for those who are interested.
The facebook event for the show can be found here.

so the second years of SPAO have a show at La Petit Mort this coming saturday night. I’ve had a chance to see the work and it should be a super interesting show. my babies are all grown up!

The photographers exhibited here – all students in the second year ofthe full-time program at SPAO – generously opened their portfolios to our eyes, inviting the risks and uncertainties of revelation, reaction, and judgment. UN/SEEN is an homage to the courage that is required to reveal one’s innermost creative journeys for the first time.

I’m very excited to announce that tomorrow night is my fellow third year Caroline Tallmadge’s opening for her solo show at SPAO! The culmination of this year’s work, it should be a fantastic show.

With her use of macro photography, Tallmadge creates extraordinary images of ordinary objects; from the dressmaker’s pins to the miniature gears of a clock repair shop, these images create an intimate and unexpected portrait of the everyday objects of the manual worker.

See you tomorrow night at the Red Wall Gallery, 168 Dalhousie, between 6pm - 9pm!
