There is SO much going on this week in Ottawa, it’s hard to know where to begin!

Northern Scene kicks off tonight at the NAC and continues until the end of next weekend. I’ve written up what I’m looking forward to in theatre, music, visual arts, and film but I limited myself…

A wonderful shout-out from the CUAG Tumblr! Thank you, Fiona!

it feels like -33°C here today, so I’m thinking back to warmer times.

I’m very excited to announce that I will have a piece in La Petite Mort Gallery’s show ”NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC goes GHETTO”, this Friday night, December 7th, between 7-10.
Artists were invited to come to the gallery to pick up a map, and were asked to transform it into a piece of art however they wanted. The above image is mine, entitled we will come back together.
Several SPAO graduates and friends will also be participating in this event, including Magida El-Kassis and Treawna Harvey. Come say hi!

It was wonderful to complete a second commissioned portrait of Lee Jones, editor of wonderful local publication Art and Science Journal!

Thinking about shopping during Black Friday today? Don’t. Instead of supporting large corporations and big box stores, support local artists and artisans by shopping in your community!

For my friends in Ottawa, Small Medium Large is tonight and Idle Hands Holiday Edition 2012 is all day tomorrow! Instead of buying a hunk of plastic that everyone already owns, buy something from someone in your community who MADE IT themselves!

Things made with love are just better presents.

Video

awesome video feature by Andrew Szeto on local artist, friend, schoolmate, and very talented photographer Magida El-Kassis

Magida has a show of polaroids opening tonight at Mugshots, the Jail Hostel here in Ottawa, as a part of Support Local month in Ottawa… see you there!

ps. keep an eye out for an art cameo by yours truly at about 2:45 in the video :)
